Drinking From A Coconut In Bangkok

Three years of holidays in Spain spent desperately trying to smash the top off of a coconut to drink from…

Hammers didn’t work… I’ve had the bruises to prove it. Bread knives are useless… I’m lucky to still have a thumb. Don’t even bother trying to throw it from a balcony – it never ends well.

If I learnt one thing from Bangkok’s Floating Market it was this; drinking from a coconut is an aquired skill that involves a machette and a complete disregard for ones fingers…

…Good things to come to those who wait!

It sounds like you’re having a lot of fun whilst you’re away. Especially in the markets.

You’re accomplishing SO many goals while you’re gone, that’s so awesome! I drank from a coconut last year too, it was a really neat experience :)

Down at an english fair one evening I was there
When I heard a showman shouting underneath the flair

I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts
There they are all standing in a row
Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head
Give them a twist a flick of the wrist
That’s what the showman said
I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts
Every ball you throw will make me rich
There stands my wife, the idol of me life
Singing roll a bowl a ball a penny a pitch

Hehe XxX

I sure hope there’s liquor in that coconut!

Hey there, in my native Dominican Republic we drink from coconut shelves regularly, it’s great. I love to put the coconut in the freezer for a while and then have someone (not me of course) open it with a machete, then stick in the straw and drink away. Of course adding a bit of gyn or rum makes it even more delish :)

Paul… they’re amazing, a lot more exciting than I expected

Melissa, I want photos girlie!

Disco Steve, you’re a dirty little thing arn’t you, I know your type x

Carola… I’m so jelopus, the most exotic drink we have in the Uk is ‘tropical juice’ which is 95% sugar and imported from France… the rum adding sounds exactly my type of piratey fabulousness

Elle… girl you know me x

Nothing like having a drink out of a coconut…Even better when on the beach!
