Girls who ride.

With the new ski season upon us, I’d like to take this opportunity to show my love for the girls out there who ride.

Girls who ride are amazing. The Aimee’s and Jenny’s, who throw themselves upside down just to hear the roar of the crowd. You girls have bigger balls than most men you meet.

A few years ago I was scared of everything. I’ve always put up a hard front, but I was scared to get messy, scared to try something that I might not be good at, scared that I might break. Snowboarding changed that. At the risk of getting deep and actually showing emotion for once, it taught me that I was braver than I thought, and that I could do anything I wanted if I put my mind to it. And after a couple of years feeling lost, that was exactly what I needed. Sometimes you have to lose your footing to find your feet.

So girls, I implore you; get out there and ride. Feel the wind in your hair. Get messy. Scare yourself. Stand in awe of the mountains, fly above the clouds – I promise you’ll never feel more alive than you do up there. Book a holiday in the alps and spend a week getting drunk in hot tubs in the mountains. Dance topless with a corona in each hand if you so wish, crowd surf until the early hours. Then choke back the sick and strap into your board the next morning – nothing cures a hangover like the mountain air.

Whether it’s snowboarding or not, do whatever makes your heart happy.

Just get out there and live.

Until next time… x
